Next we must define the roles we need. Start the Role Tool by
pressing
Role Tool toolbar button or selecting
Metamodel | Role
Tool in the MetaEdit+ launcher. The roles for our
Family relationship
are easy to create, as they do not require any properties or symbols. So, to
create a
Parent role, just enter ‘Parent’ in the top-most
field (
Figure 3-12) and press
Save.

The
Child role is created in
the same way. Press first
New button in the Role Tool toolbar or select
Role | New from the menu bar to clear up the Role Tool for a new type.
Enter then ‘Child’ in the top-most field and press
Save and
Close.
