Hej,
I want to work with MetaEdit+ to make a prototype implementation of a modeling language which I developed as part of my Master Thesis. I'm using the evaluation version, but what happens after 31 days? Can't I continue working with it?? And if I install a new evaluation version of MetaEdit (probably with a different evaluation code), am I able to open my old work to continue working??? Thanks in advance, Max |

Hi Max,
It's always great to hear from someone who has developed their own modeling language! I enjoy looking at any language, whatever the tool: are there any example pictures or descriptions online?
Yes, the evaluation version will work for the 31 days, and then will stop. Your models and metamodels are intact, but you won't be able to open them with an evaluation version (even a new evaluation version - to prevent people just downloading again to keep using evaluation versions forever).
To implement an existing modeling language should only take you a few hours, so I don't think you'll find the time limit a problem for that. Of course if you like the results and want to continue using MetaEdit+, you can look at getting a full license. That will be able to open and edit the metamodels and models you made with the evaluation version. Our current academic pricing is 150€ for one license of the full MetaEdit+ Workbench, with discounts for more - e.g. 20 for 50€ each; see our academic page for more details. If you have any questions just contact us, e.g. by email to info@metacase.com.
With the full version you can make your language available to others, and they can try it for free with an evaluation version. Edited by stevek - 30.Apr.2008 at 15:14 |
