Purpose and organisation of manual

This user’s guide provides a thorough introduction to MetaEdit+ Workbench as well as an exhaustive reference manual. It covers the complete set of commands, features and concepts needed for building modeling tools with MetaEdit+ Workbench.

This manual has eight chapters, a glossary and an index:
Chapter 1, Metamodeling with MetaEdit+ Workbench, discusses the basic principles of metamodeling with GOPPRR and provides a short introduction to the MetaEdit+ metamodeling tools.
Chapter 2, Conceptual metamodeling tools, describes the core metamodeling tools of MetaEdit+ Workbench.
Chapter 3, Symbol Editor, gives a detailed description of the editor used for creating graphical representations for concepts.
Chapter 4, Dialog Editor, covers the tool for customizing property dialogs.
Chapter 5, Generators, explains the usage of MetaEdit+ generator creation and debugging environment and provides the reference for the MERL generator definition language.
Chapter 6, Metamodel management tools, describes the tool set for searching, editing and organizing the elements created by other metamodeling tools.
Chapter 7, XML import and export, describes the MetaEdit+ data exchange processes and formats available with the API add-on.
Chapter 8, API, discusses the application program interface for MetaEdit+, including the reference for the public API commands.
Chapter 9, Command line operations, covers the MetaEdit+ command line parameters added by the API add-on.
Appendix A: Regular expressions syntax
Appendix B: Glossary of basic terms applied in MetaEdit+ Workbench.
Index, containing an alphabetical reference to all MetaEdit+ functions and commands, as well as to some concepts discussed throughout the manual.
