MetaEdit+ 4.0 program patches
These patches are only applicable to MetaEdit+ 4.0.
The patch links below are direct links to the .pat files, which are binary files that MetaEdit+ can read via the fileInPatch: xxx.pat command line argument. Download the patch by selecting 'Save to file' in your browser: do not attempt to view as HTML pages! Check the size afterwards: some browsers appear to download these as ASCII files, when they are in fact binary files.

Beta Patches
These patches are not fully tested, nor normally necessary for operation of MetaEdit+: install them and use them with care, and only if you want or need the changes mentioned.
- Windows XP SP2: Menus do not open on first mouse click; Classic theme [Included in SR2]
- Windows XP SP2 sends spurious mouse events to MetaEdit+, causing menus to
be closed as soon as they are opened. xpmenu+theme.pat
corrects this, and also makes MetaEdit+ use the Windows 2000 look if the
Classic theme is in force when starting up.
Known Problems
- Mac OS X version will not run on Intel Macs
- The Mac OS X version of MetaEdit+ was released before the advent of Intel Macs, and will only run on the older (pre-Spring 2006) PowerPC-based Macs. MetaCase are working on a new Mac OS X version for Intel-based Macs, which will be available as MetaEdit+ 4.5. In the interim, user reports of similar software suggest that the current Windows version can be run on an Intel Mac, under either BootCamp or Parallels.
- Startup problem on Linux: Gnome fontpath
- MetaEdit+ may hang or give an error on startup or showing diagrams with
certain current versions of Linux. Some Ubuntu and Gentoo installations
exhibit this problem, possibly other Debian distributions. The
root
cause appears to be an empty font directory prepended to the font path
by a Gnome background application. The workaround is to run the following in
your X session before starting MetaEdit+:
xset fp rehash
Another possible workaround is to change the font path by installing the gsfonts-x11 package, e.g.
sudo apt-get install gsfonts-x11
