Hi,
I am creating the i* modeling notation. In i* there are typically curved lines between softgoal elements. Is there a way to create such curved rather than straight & angled lines between elements? thanks, Daniel |

No, sorry. The curved lines give a pretty look to a diagram, but straight lines at an angle are easier for the eye and brain to follow.

In i* the curved lines in fact allude to the "soft"ness of contributions of one softgoal to another softgoals. While straight lines allude to hardness of contributions to hard goals. Its a convention that some in the goal modeling community have adopted.
Softgoals originate from Simon's idea of satisficing -- to address goals to a sufficient extent. Softgoals represent goals that can often only be contributed to sufficiently, insufficiently, or partially. In i* for example, a reducing call indirections contributes partially extent to, say, the softgoal of improved system performance. |
