To prevent the connection you've drawn in red, you can simply add a Connectivity constraint:
  1. Open the Graph Tool for your Graph type
  2. Go to the Constraints tab
  3. Add a Connectivity constraint that objects of type Slave can be in at most 1 role of type Slave
