System requirements
MetaEdit+ is designed to be platform independent and thus follows the principles of open systems to work on all major platforms. Full platform independence is supported for both the environment and the data. Currently MetaEdit+ clients and servers are available on the following platforms:
| Platform | Hardware | Operating System |
|---|---|---|
| Windows (view screenshot) | Pentium | Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 |
| Linux (view screenshot) | Pentium | Any modern distribution, e.g.
Ubuntu, SuSE, RedHat (i386, kernel 2.2 or later, glibc 2.1.3 or later, X11R6) |
| Mac OS X (view screenshot) | Mac (PowerPC or Intel) | Mac OS X 10.3.4 or later (Panther, Tiger, Leopard) |
| HP-UX | HP PA-RISC, e.g. HP 9000 series 700 |
HP-UX 11.x or later |
| Solaris | Sun SPARC workstation | Solaris 5.6 or later |
The installed program requires around 40Mb of hard disk space and uses a similar amount of memory when running.
For multi-user access to the repository, the MetaEdit+ server and clients should be connected via a network with LAN latency and supporting file sharing and socket communications. The MetaEdit+ server requires around 20Mb of memory and its typical CPU load averages a few percent.
