System Requirements:
- Intel or PowerPC Mac
- Mac OS X version 10.3.4 or later (Leopard requires MetaEdit+ 4.5 SR1 or later)
- X Windows (X11) (installation instructions below)
Installing MetaEdit+
Installing X11:
"MetaEdit+ 4.5 Evaluation" is an X11 application. In order to run it in OS X, you need to have X11 support installed on your Mac. X11 is installed by default in Leopard (which requires MetaEdit+ 4.5 SR1), and can be installed in earlier Mac versions according to the following instructions:
- Insert your original Mac OS X Installation or Restore disk 1 and wait for it to open on the desktop.
- Go to the "System" folder on the installation media and navigate through the "Installation" and "Packages" folders.
- Within the "Packages" folder, locate and double-click "X11User.pkg".
- Follow the instructions to complete the X11 installation.
Installing MetaEdit+:
After X11 has been installed, open the MetaEdit+ DMG package you downloaded, and drag and drop the 'MetaEdit+ 4.5 Evaluation' application file into your Applications folder.
After installing MetaEdit+
Usage Instructions:
Start by double-clicking "MetaEdit+ 4.5 Evaluation" from Applications.
During the first start-up MetaEdit+ will create a folder called "MetaEdit+ 4.5" in your home Documents folder. In this folder, MetaEdit+ will place such user-specific items as demo repository, reports folder for generation output, metaedit.ini file etc.
When MetaEdit+ has started, open Help | Contents and go to the Evaluation Tutorial, which includes information about logging in. On your first login, you will be asked for an evaluation code, which you will have received in the email with your download details.
Please note that as an X11 application, some keyboard shortcuts are different from native Mac OS X applications:

Uninstallation Instructions:
You can uninstall MetaEdit+ 4.5 Evaluation as normal by dragging it from Applications to the trash can. Please remember that your data files are located in your Documents folder, so you can remove or keep them as you like (to remove them, simply drag the "MetaEdit+ 4.5" folder from Documents to the trash can).
