Jack Greenfield, Software Architect, Microsoft
Jack Greenfield is an Architect for Enterprise Frameworks and Tools at Microsoft. He was previously Chief Architect, Practitioner Desktop Group, at Rational Software Corporation, and Founder and CTO of InLine Software Corporation. He is a co-author of the book “Software Factories: Assembling Applications from Patterns, Models, Frameworks and Tools”, with Keith Short, Steve Cook and Stuart Kent. The book defines the Software Factories methodology in detail, and explains its motivation and timeliness within the industry. He has also contributed to UML, J2EE, and related OMG and JSP specifications.
Juha-Pekka Tolvanen, CEO, MetaCase
Dr. Juha-Pekka Tolvanen is the CEO of MetaCase. He has been involved in model-driven approaches and tools, notably method engineering and metamodeling since 1991. Juha-Pekka holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. He has acted as a consultant world-wide for method development and has written over 50 articles in software development magazines and journals such as Embedded Systems, ObjectSpektrum and Application Development Advisor. As co-founder of the DSM Forum (www.dsmforum.org) he plays a leading role in the shift towards model-driven development.
Krzysztof Czarnecki, Assistant Professor, UW
Dr. Krzysztof Czarnecki is an Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Before coming to Waterloo, he spent 8 years at DaimlerChrysler Research working on the practical applications of generative programming. He is co-author of the book "Generative Programming" (Addison-Wesley, 2000), which is regarded as founding work in the area and is used as a graduate text at universities around the world. He was General Chair of the 2003 International Conference on Generative Programming and Component Engineering (GPCE) and keynote speaker at UML 2004. His current work focuses on realizing the synergies between generative and model-driven software development.
Steven Kelly, CTO, MetaCase
Dr. Steven Kelly is the CTO of MetaCase and co-founder of the DSM Forum. He has over ten years of experience of building metaCASE environments and acting as a consultant on their use in domain-specific modeling. As architect and lead developer of MetaEdit+, MetaCase's domain-specific modeling tool, he has seen it win or be a finalist in awards from Byte, the Innosuomi prize for innovation awarded by the Finnish President, Net.Object Days, and the Software Development Jolt awards. Ever present on the program committee of the OOPSLA workshops on Domain-Specific Modeling, he co-organized the first workshop in 2001. Author of over 20 articles, most recently in journals such as Dr. Dobb's and ObjektSpektrum, he is also a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Database Management. Outside of work, he has co-authored the first grammar of the Kenyan Orma language, and is a soccer player in the Finnish Third Division.
